Cord with broad rib

The new OSKA slightly wider ribbed, elastic corduroy comes from France and has a select name: Genua Corduroy.

Usually, corduroy is differentiated by the number of ribs on 10cm of fabric:
Cable Corduroy: up to 10 ribs, Wide Corduroy: 10 to 25 ribs, Genua cord: 25 to 40 ribs and Fine or Baby Corduroy: more than 40 ribs.

Like velvet, corduroy has a stroking direction which must be considered during processing, as the fabric looks and feels different with or against the stroke. Typically corduroy is cut against the stroke as then the colours appear intensely dark and it is more comfortable to wear
